Infinity Pathfinder

AI driven Algorithm that delivers real time personalised learning

Overview

Roche diagnostic is helping laboratories all over the world to become more connected. We built a product to train Roche’s employee to train on internal softwares and products to deploy and deliver the best possible customer experience.

Infinity pathfinder is an algorithm based product that reduces the need or at least greatly reduce the effort required to manually calculate internal trainings needed for Roche employees to keep upgrading their knowledge about key product functionalities and updates.

Background

Managing the continuous internal training of 2000+ employees on laboratory softwares requires extensive amount of time and knowledge. Employees having to wait several weeks before receiving their personalised learning path was creating a huge bottleneck within Roche’s organisation. The organisation was also facing the risk of losing fundamental expertise to design learning paths.

“The team at Adventure Club met with us, understood our complexity and delivered a solution that will change the way we work for the foreseeable future.”

Approach

We traveled to Switzerland to meet with Roche teams in order to map the existing process and design the new service. We spent two days, sitting with their team to understand the full extent of the complexity of designing learning paths at Roche.

Main findings

Actively collaborating with the team helped us understand what were the key parameters to design personalised learning paths, we also identified pain points in the  acquisition of data and delivery of the learning paths to employees. Based on these informations we designed an algorithm capable of

High level
Algorithm model design

Infinity pathfinder algorithm is capable of understanding complex scenarios, delivering over 1700 different learning paths scenarios and saving in average 56 hours of work time per training designed.

The configurations required for the engine to function include a large number of parameters such as past and future role, degree of expertise in the field of training, product version, training experience and more. Adaptable, the tool is scalable and evolves as Roche integrate new tools and new software for its team and clients.

Product Vision

A 3 steps project

1

Understand and Define

Adventure Club met with Roche for a series of workshops in order to scope the project and identify the challenges at hand. Based on the information collected we defined the service blueprint, user stories, user flows and the core mechanisms of the algorithm.

2

Design and Validate

Based on the collected information and the redefinition of the main challenge. Adventure Club designed the first front-end prototype. Usability Tests were conducted with Roche employees to ensure that the tool was aligned with user needs and expectations.

3

Build and Iterate

Once the design was approved by the client, we collaborated with Feed to build the MVP. From the design of the data system to product management and quality assurance, Adventure club delivered the first version of the MVP in less than 3 months.

Pathfinder

An algorithm based solution that uses AI to crunch ultra-complex learning requirements, and generate context-specific learning paths in seconds, rather than human hours or days. It uses a React frontend client, connected to a thin Node.js API layer communicating with various services in the domain to design and deliver ultra personalised content for employees.

Making trainings accessible and simple for more 2000+ employees at Roche Diagnostic in just 3 months.

“The Pathfinder Engine is a huge capability multiplier for us: specialists usually take days to calculate a learning path, with hundreds of complex variables.

Pathfinder has reduced this human load entirely - and takes seconds to produce a result. We believe this is a pillar of the future”
